Ponder This
There is an idea that I have pondered for several years now. Well let’s be honest, maybe closer to about ten years now. People would laugh and think it’s the dumbest idea they have ever heard. However before you judge the idea, I want you to imagine it.
It would have to feel like being weightless. Almost. In a sense it would be floating, so although it’s not truly weightless, it would have some specific qualities about floating. Now to the meat of the idea. The bed will be made with magnets and engineered to levitate. While using magnets to hold the frame in one very specific place. It wouldn’t have to float high, or far. It would only have to be possible that it touches nothing connected to the floor, wall, or ceiling.
Think About It
If this would be possible to build in a way that would be totally safe. The coolest bed ever made would float without touching anything while gravity does its thing. While being engineered and well made, it would likely only be installed by professionals. It would however be something that is totally unique and that would be hopefully a very good nights rest.
There would have to be a mattress so that it would be comfortable, and pillows to make it feel good. The main idea is that it wouldn’t be touching the ground, the walls, or the ceiling in any way.
Also it shouldn’t bounce when you get into bed. It’s got to be stable. Think about this, imagine it. Build it. Because I want one. If it’s not possible now, maybe in twenty years. I’m not sure what would be required to engineer such things, I only know it has to be made.
Maybe we could get some space engineer to build one for us. Otherwise my only other option would be a flight into space where I could be truly weightless, but that is the topic of other blog posts and too much detail to go into for this article.
Thanks!
UPDATE: Seems someone thought about it. However, the price tag is out of this world. See the bed that floats here: Expensive Bed
