Comfort Zones
If there is one thing that will knock your creativity for a sour loop, it is your comfort zones. You get comfortable, you get too comfortable, and your creativity starts to take a nose dive.
I’ve heard it said, “Stay hungry, stay foolish!” I had always thought its good advice and while I understood it on the surface level, it took me a while to realize its about staying outside one’s own comfort zone.
So in these strange times, be aware; have a care. Still you have to do something that scares you a little bit every day. Just going for a walk isn’t really enough, you have to be pushing the envelope in your everyday living.
Try writing a stranger, or talking with someone new. Go indoor skydiving once or twice. You have to be doing something that is outside your current frame of mind. That is how new ways of looking at things is discovered. That is how growth happens.
Don’t get too comfortable if you want to be highly creative. That comfort zone will make sour paintings if you are not careful.
